This is an article of regalia worn by a Pacific Northwest Coast Native during a dance ceremony. The design on the robe is by Dempsey Bob. It represents the clan house of killer whales. Even though Dempsey designed the regalia, he did not sew it. The beading and stitching and fringe work were done by his sister. Besides being a work of beauty, Northwest Coast regalia chronicle one’s genealogy in it’s totemic clan house art. This helped to identify suitable marriage partners.
