One can classify architectural photography into two categories: interiors and exteriors. Of course there are more, but these are the two main divisions. When an architectural photographer prepares for an exterior shoot, it is something like a hunter stalking prey. He has to locate the best angle for the image, he has to study the sun or at least anticipate when the sun will favorably light his subject. We can’t control natural light very easily, especially not over large areas like the entire side of a building.
