Gymnasiums are an integral part of today’s modern high schools. Many are being refurbished to hold more spectators. Competitive sports abound in the curriculum and as electives. It is no accident that a good gym is an important asset to have. Sometimes as a photographer assigned to capture an architectural photograph, I refuse to view the gym as just a large open room. It is, of course, but every space has its own character, and it is my job to interpret that feeling and render it as a visual.
